Abelungu

Abelungu Logo

Abelungu was founded by Sandra, Richard & Brad. We are
 Rushbearing Festival
three people who are nuts about African style hand-drumming. We were formed out of a desire to perform and share the gift of drumming rhythms in whatever way we can.

We love to play for people to dance, we love to perform, and we love to share the music we have with others - teaching them to play together for fun or performance.

Abelungu play rhythms we have collected from around the world, on African drums. The rhythms include African (of course), South American, Cuban, North African / Middle Eastern, Indian and Japanese Taiko.

 Rushbearing Festival
We have a spectacular show which is great to dance to and great to get a party going as well as to sit and listen to - although you wont be sitting for long!

We are also experienced in playing for dance groups.

We have played for 5 Rhythm groups, trance dance and various other free dance groups.

We have run drumming workshops for beginners and performance groups at Dance Camp North and the Dire Tribe Camps for a number of years.
